Corpus Christi Church

Corpus Christi Church is Polish Brick Gothic church dating back to the early 14th century.One of the most important churches in Poland it houses the relics of Queen Jadwiga.The church is built of stone and brick and decorated with patterns of strongly fired bricks.On either side of the presbytery are 17th century, richly carved stalls.To the left is the Oratorium where according to legend St.Jadwiga often prayed.In 2006, a shrine was added to the Oratorium to hold the relics of St.Jadwiga.

House of Kromer

The Kromer House is a 16th century building that never actually belonged to Marcin Kromer.Built in 1519, only 7 years after Kromer's birth the building belonged to the wealthy Chodorow family.Today the building houses a cultural museum that includes a number of important folk artifacts, art and coins.The oldest exhibits include axeheads and related neolithic artefacts as well as Roman and Byzantine coins and medieval ceramics and weaponry.Other exhibits showcase historical weaponry and the day-to-day life of townspeople throughout history.

Biecz Castle

During the course of history there existed three separate castles in Biecz.Currently only the ruins of one of these remain.Of the other two castles one was built in the current location of the Franciscan church while the other was located on land owned by the hospital.The castle ceased to be considered an important line of defense during the second half of the 15th century.In 1475, King Kazimierz IV Jagiellonczyk ordered the castle's demolition.Large pieces of stonework and related ruins were scattered across the nearby countryside as late as the 19th century.Today all that is visible is the foundation of the castle which has been preserved for posterity.

The Legend of the Bechuanaland

Long ago lived a knight called a bleat who participated in the Crusades.Although he was not poor often attacked the rich caravan.Start bawling took dishes, jewellery and gold and silver coins.He also liked to liberate slaves carried on caravans.Once it happened that freed a little orphan named Bietka.Start bawling decided to take care of a girl.But he was a dangerous robber and fearing for her upbringing he gave it to the ducal court.However Bietke asked to forget about it.

The Legend of bread petrified

This legend is associated with the old chapel, situated near the railway station in Biecz.One day the landlady of one of the houses outside the city walls baked bread.After the baking, put it on the sill of his window he could lose to baking heat gained during baking.After a short time lured by the smell of freshly baked bread poor fellow went to the window.He asked for a piece of bread as it wandered a few days having no food in the mouth.The hostess however was minimal and not shared with him.He frustrated walked away without a word.After several hours the hostess came back for the bread.But she found the fossilized remains only.

Branch Kromerowce

collections of this department include the monuments of culture material, folk art and numismatics.The oldest exhibits are the axes and hatchets from the period of the Neolithic and blood fractions.The museum also contains Roman and Byzantine coins, archaeological finds from the medieval Castle Hill pottery, cave shot, spoon and ax and the vessels of clay and tiles.Subsequent exposures show the old tools and documents guild, old cannons, stone balls and exhibitions depicting the life of former inhabitants.
