St. Vincent Church

The St. Vincent de Paul Church is a church in the center of the Belgian city of Eeklo.It is the parish church of St. Vincent de Paul Parish.The present church dates from the nineteenth century and has had several predecessors, in the course of time destroyed or degraded.Already in the 9th century there was mention of a house of prayer to Eclo but we only hear of a real parish when Eeklo his city was host in 1240.The oldest existing document in connection with the Church is a letter from 1379 by the then Earl of Flanders, Louis de Maele to his lord, the French king.He writes about a very beautiful church with tall tower.In the city archives we find for the first data on the parish church in the 15th century.In 1501, some repairs done to the church and a new clock installed.Nineteen years later a nave built.

Belfry of Eeklo

The Belfry of Eeklo is the belfry of the town hall of the East Flemish city Eeklo.The belfry tower from 1932 is on the list of 56 belfries in Belgium and France as World Heritage recognized by UNESCO.The Town Hall itself in Flemish Renaissance style from the seventeenth century.

Genever Museum

The Genever Museum is a museum in the East Flemish city Eeklo that the history of gin brewing exposed.After several wars, one moved to Peter III Eeklo.He came from a brewing family and wanted to continue this craft.He brewed a drink with grain, alcohol and juniper.This drink hit with the public.The Jenevermuseum Van Hoorebeke, its shop and Druppelkot were in 1991 in the former gin distillery between Boelare and Father De Neve Street set.The Gin House From Hoorebeke bring the turbulent history of this delicious drink in the region of Eeklo back to life.The Gin House gives the visitor a taste of a century old family tradition.The restored warehouse brings the past vividly to the fore.In the Gin Museum, except a group of volunteers, including two people employed.

Huysman Farm

The Huysman Farm is now the tourist visitor center of the Meetjesland, while owned by the Belgian province of East Flanders.The farm with its gatehouse are protected monuments, the yard with the alley wall, service buildings and orchard are protected townscape.The property is situated in Bus, off Pepper Street in the city of Eeklo, the central city of Meetjesland.The Huysman Farm is now being turned over to visitors for the Meetjesland, management is vested in the Countryside Centre Meetjesland vzw.The house itself is decorated as a show house and makes the visitors in an interactive introduction to the Meetjesland in all its facets.The free large farm with its cafeteria should especially as a base or stop by hikers and cyclists.One of the nodes of the cycle network passes Meetjesland Huysman at The Farm.
