By Air

An airport serving the city (Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport) is situated in the village of Kosakowo, just to the north of the city. The conurbation's main airport, Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport, lays approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) south-west of central Gdynia.

By Train

The main railroad station is Gdynia Główna run by PKP.Gdynia is one of the biggest railway hubs in Poland with connections to Warsaw, Krakow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Katowice, Szczecin, Torun, Bialystok and many others. If traveling in the coastal area Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia, then look out for the SKM commuter train. Travel from nearby Gdansk takes about 40 minutes (3.50 zl) with the frequent SKM urban trains, which leave every 8-20 minutes.

By Ferries

In 2007, 364,202 passengers, 17,025,000 tons of Cargo and 614,373 TEU containers passed through the port. Regular car ferry service operates between here and Karlskrona, Sweden.From Finland: Finnlines operates between Helsinki and Gdynia 3x/week.The trip takes 19 hours and fares start from €102.

Opener Festival

The Heineken Opener Festival is a music festival which takes place on the North coast of Poland, in Gdynia. The first edition of the festival was organized in Warsaw in 2002 as Open Air Festival. The main organizer of the festival is the concert agency Alter Art, but the performance took its name from its principal sponsor, Heineken International. 2011 edition of Open'er will be held from 30 June to 3 July. Open’er Festival was given the Best Major Festival prize on European Festival Awards awards ceremony in 2010 and 2011.Since 2006, the festival takes place on Kosakowo Airport (formerly Babie Doły Military Airport) in Gdynia.The first concerts begin at 4 pm, but the festival area will be opened from 3 pm until 5am (the last concerts start at 2am). In 2008 and 2009 there were 7 stages, which were the most stages in Open'er's history: Main Stage, World Stage, Tent Stage, Young Talents Stage, Beat Stage, Alter Space and Alter Space Theatres. There was also a chillout zone located in a military hangar and a Red Pulse Tent filled with drum&bass rhythm. 2010 edition of festival also had 7 stages.

Gdansk Shakespeare Festival

Is an international theatre festival devoted to the idea of the Elizabethan theatre, and especially to the works of William Shakespeare. The event was first organized in 1993, on the initiative of Theatrum Gedanense Foundation, which had been created by prof. Jerzy Limon and Władysław Zawistowski. Its original name, "Gdańsk Shakespeare Days" was transformed into "Gdańsk Shakespeare Festival" in 1997, during the celebration of Gdańsk's millennium.The Festival is held annually during the first week of August. Most of the plays are performed on the theatre scenes of Gdańsk, Sopot, and Gdynia (Tricity). Some are shown in spaces such as st. John's Church, the former Royal Gun Factory, or Gdańsk Shipyard and in the open air.The Festival aims at presenting and popularizing the output of William Shakespeare by presentation of his plays, but also by other means. After the performances the public can meet with directors and actors. Within the framework of the festival an educational program for students is organized as well.

ORP Blyskawica

was a Grom-class destroyer serving in the Polish Navy during World War II, currently preserved as a museum ship in Gdynia.It is the only ship of the Polish Navy awarded with the Virtuti Militari medal, as well as the oldest preserved destroyer in the world.She was the latter of two Grom-class destroyers, built for the Polish Navy by J. Samuel White, Cowes.The name means Lightning.The two Groms were some of the most heavily-armed and fastest destroyers on the seas before World War II.After the war, she returned to Poland.Since 1 May 1976 she has served as a museum ship in Gdynia, replacing Burza.In July 2006, Błyskawica was "twinned" with the Canadian destroyer HMCS Haida in a ceremony in Gdynia.Both ships served in the 10th Destroyer Flotilla during World War II.The ceremony was attended by former crew members of both ships and the general public.A similar ceremony took place in Canada with HMCS Haida in 2007.In November 2007 she was awarded the International Maritime Heritage Award of the World Ship Trust.

Osada Rybacka

Is a quite wild beach located in Oksywie district - besides suntanning, you can see beautiful, old fishermen equipment and a funicular for fish transport.It is better to go there in the morning, as in the late afternoon the sun is hidden by cliffs.The beach is accessible by 152 bus line from the city center - get out at the terminus of the line in Oksywie Dickmana direction.
