By Air

Palace of the Krakow Bishops

was built in the 17th century as a summer residence of Bishops of Krakow in Kielce, Poland.The architecture of the palace constitute a unique melange of Polish and Italian traditions and reflects political ambitions of its founder.Currently the palace houses a branch of the National Museum with an important gallery of Polish paintings.In 1789, after taking over the of bishops estates by the civil authorities, part of the garden plots was allocated to the officials, the staircase leading from the palace to the garden was rebuilt and the original layout of the garden was obliterated.The 17th-century geometrical garden with a central portion surrounded by an apple orchard, was restored in 2003.

Sienkiewicza Street

is the main commercial and historic "artery" of the city of Kielce, Poland.It was built in the middle of the 19th century.It was originally called Konstantego Street, then Postal Street and in 1919 it received its present name.Shops and department stores are located there as well as historic buildings and monuments.It is approximately 1270 metres long and runs from the railway station situated next to the Independence square to the Moniuszki square.Marking out another part of today’s Sienkiewicza Street resulted in the inflow of Jewish to Kielce.They started to invest in building lots.Between the Czysta and Zelazna Streets, on the southern side, there was a non-built-up area on which arable lands were located.It was surrounded by a fence from side of the Sienkiewicza Street.

Stefan Zeromski Theatre

Kielce Synagogue

was a synagogue in Kielce, Poland.It was built between 1901 and 1903, and designed by Stanisław Szpakowski.The temple was desecrated by the Nazis during World War II, and turned into a prison and storage facility for stolen Jewish property.Under the communists the building was abandoned from 1945 to 1951.The adjoining mikvah and Rabbi's home were destroyed in the 1970s. The structure has been renovated and some architectural elements altered. Today it serves as a State Archives.
