Kungalvs church

Kungalvs church is a church in Kungalv in Gothenburg diocese . It is the parish church in Kungalvs congregation .The years 1658 - 1662 was one of the present church site was built a church which was burnt by the Swedes on August 12th 1676 . Work to construct a new church took place between 1679 and 1688 .Responsible for the construction was architect Christopher Fragile, which operates in western Sweden but originally from Switzerland . The city Kungalv had with the Royal. Majesty's help managed to get national collections to the site and the largest items arrived, according to church accounts for 1682 , from Elfsyssels and Norrviken deaneries (they were then to Gothenburg and Karlstad diocese ), Gothenburg and Stockholm city , Bergslagen , Karlstad , Linkoping , Skara , Vasteras and Kalmar diocese .

Bohus Fortress

Bohus fortress, originally built in 1308 to strengthen the defense of Norway's contemporary southern border. The fortress is now a ruin located on a 40 meter high cliff on Bagaholmen in Nordre River , at Gota northern utloppsarm, at Kungalv . It has given name to the province Bohuslan , and has been besieged at least fourteen times but never been conquered in battle.The fortress was originally called Baghahus (1319) after Bagaholmen as it is, then Bahus. The prefix comes from the Old West Norse bagre 'troublesome'. This refers to the fairway in Nordre river below the fort. After The level-house means 'castle, mount'.Another theory performed on the prefix Bohus-origin, is that the name comes from power in Nordre River, south of Fortress Holmen who in the 1200s called Bágastraumr. The implication is when the old West Norse verb Bagh, 'flow, overflow, stream'.

Karl Fortress

Karl's Fortress is a fortress on the island of Marstrand in Kungalv municipality in southern west coast. After the building in the 1800s were considered the fortress internationally as one of Europe's strongest fortresses.After the Peace of Roskilde in 1658 became Bohuslan and hence Marstrand Swedish. The city had long been an important center of trade. Since the port is almost never freezes, was placed a part of the Swedish fleet here. To defend Marstrand decided Charles X to build a fort on the island. The fortress was built by prisoners sentenced to hard labor . The most famous prisoner is arguably Lasse-Maja , from Ramsberg in Bergslagen , who was imprisoned in the fortress in the early 1800s when he was taken prisoner after their theft in Jarfalla church .

Marstrand Church

Marstrand Church is the oldest building in the town. There has been a church on the site since the twelfth century, when King Harald Kille built a wooden church here. The present building was begun in the thirteenth century, and originally served a community of Franciscans. It was substantially altered during the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries. Guided tours of the historic local landmark are available during the summer months. It serves a congregation of the Swedish National Church.
