By Air

Nagpur's Air Traffic Control (ATC) is the busiest in India,with more than 300 international flights flying over the city every day in 2004.In October 2005, Nagpur's Sonegaon Airport was declared an international airport and was renamed Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport.

Nagpur is currently witnessing an economic boom as the "Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN)" is under development. MIHAN will be used for handling heavy cargo coming from south east Asia and the Middle East. The project will include Indian Rupee symbol.svg10,000 crore (US$2.22 billion) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Information Technology (IT) companies.

By Train

Due to its central location in India, the Nagpur Railway Station is an important railway junction and a transit terminal for trains that connect the country lengthwise and breadthwise, especially trains connecting India's major metropolises, Mumbai to Howrah-Kolkata, Delhi and Jammu to Chennai, Jabalpur,Varanasi Hydrabad, Bangalore and Kanyakumari in the South, as well as western cities such as Pune and Ahemedabad.The city is the Divisional Head Quarters for the Central Railway and South East Central Railway Zone of Indian Railways. In 2010 Jan aahar opened its outlet in Nagpur Railway station. Jan aahar has only a few of its outlets in India. Jan aadhar offers light and healthy food at very affordable prices.

By Road

Nagpur is a major junction for roadways as India's two major national highways, Kanyakumari-Varanasi (NH 7) and Hajira-Kolkata (NH-6), passing through the city.One more highway number 69 connect Nagpur to Obaidullaganj near Bhopal. Nagpur is at the junction of two Asian Highways namely AH43 Agra to Matara, Sri Lanka and AH46 connecting Kharagpur, India to Dhule, India. Auto rickshaws operate in most parts of Nagpur and are the main form of hired transport within the city.

The new national highway is being built between Nagpur and Mumbai, an alternative to the existing NH 6, and will be a boost to the under developed regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada in Maharashtra state.

Deekshabhoomi

Deekshabhoomi is the largest hollow stupa or the largest dome shape monument and an important place of dalit buddhist movement, is located in Nagpur.Every year on the day of Vijayadashmi i.e. Dasehara, followers of Ambedkar visit deekshabhoomi. The 14th April, which is birth date of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar is celebrated. The most famous Temple in Nagpur is Tekdi Ganesh Mandir, and is said to be one of the Swayambhu (means Self-Manifested) temple in city. Sri Poddareshwar Ram Mandir and Shri Mahalaxmi Devi temple of Koradi are important Hindu temples.Religious events are observed in the city throughout the year. Ram Navami is celebrated in Nagpur with shobha yatra with a procession of floats depicting events from the Ramayana.Processions are also held on important festivals of other religions such as Eid E Milad, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti, Durga puja, Ganesh Puja and Moharram. Like the rest of India, Nagpurkars celebrate major Hindu festivals like Diwali, Holi and Dussera with enthusiasm. Celebrations lasting for several days are held on Ganesh Chaturthi and Durga Puja festivals in virtually every small locality in the city. The city also contains a sizable Muslim population, and famous places of worship for Muslims include the Jama Masjid-Mominpura and Bohri Jamatkhana-Itwari.

Futala Lake

Futala Lake is a famous lake in Nagpur, which is a favorite hangout place for Nagpur populaces of all age groups. Futala lake, built by Raje Bhosle dating back to centuries, is known for its charming atmosphere and coloured fountains. The pleasant atmosphere and the eye feasting surrounding make it a beautiful picnic spot visited by hundreds of people everyday. The evenings are more beautiful to wander out under the imposing illumination of colored halogen lights.

Ramtek Fort Temple

Ramtek Fort Temple has a legendary story in its credit. This is assumed to be the sacred place where Lord Rama took rest before leaving to conquer Lanka.The Ramtek fort temple is centuries old with main deity as Lord Rama.The temple is located within a fort which is situated at a calm hilltop. This is a marvelous and cool place to keep off from madding crowds of the city. The unpolluted air in this hillock makes the environment healthy and rejuvenating.

Musical Garden

Musical Garden is located at Surya Nagar, Nagpur and is built under the direction of Jaiprakash Gupta, NIT trustee.The theme of the garden is Music in and out. The sprawling garden has pleasant ambience and is having a landscaped lawn. It has many attractive musical fountains, with themes of nodes of music, ragas and raganis conducted by musician.There is an open air theater which can accommodate about 2500 people and the theater is intended for musical concerts. It is a center of attraction for the Nagpur populace.

Telankhedi Shiv Temple

Telankhedi Shiv Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in his pristine form is located nearby the famous temple of Hanuman. This is a renowned religious place among the Shiva devotees. A marvelous structure of the Nandi adorns the entrance of the temple.The sanctorum is small but very attractive.

The temple, dates back to many years, is witnessing a huge flow of devotees during the important festival days. Mahashivaratri is celebrated here with many rituals and festivities. Many small shrines of various Hindu Gods are placed in the surroundings.

Japanese Rose Garden

Japanese Rose Garden refreshing Greenery is the keyword for Japanese Rose Garden in Nagpur. It is located at civil lines in Nagpur and is the best place in Nagpur for morning walks and bird watching. The colorfully painted iron structures in the garden bring the style of the Japanese gardens and hence the name Japanese Rose Garden.

The unpolluted atmosphere with plenty of greenish trees and lawns, this well maintained garden of rose is really a marvelous location for doing some morning exercises and meditation. The cool breeze emerging out with fragrance will absolutely soothe your body and mind.

Maharaj Bagh

Maharaj Bagh the specimen of pristine beauty, is a marvelous garden in Nagpur attracting thousands to its lap.This attractive garden was laid by the erstwhile Bhonsle kings. Presently it encloses a botanical garden. It houses an amazing zoo with rare collections of birds and animals. It is a common visiting place for many locals and often school children throngs to this garden to view the exhibits in the botanical garden.

Raman Science Centre

Raman Science Centre a premier institute in Nagpur, is dedicated to the promotion of science and technology.The centre, honoring the great Indian Scientist and Nobel laureate Dr C V Raman, is founded in 1992. It leads many scientific activities in and around Nagpur.Raman Science Centre also exhibits many real worthy collection of items showcasing the various aspects of modern science and technology.This encloses a planetarium and the astronomy is one of the areas pursued here with much vigor and dynamism.The planetarium is open to the public from 11.30 am to 7 pm on all days except Mondays.
