How to Reach

By Air

The closest airport is Volos airport (VOL), situated in (Nea Anchialos) about 130 km from the city. Volos may be the nearest airfield but only offers service during the warm-weather months.Air Berlin operate every Monday and every Friday from May to October (Flights to/from Berlin, Hamburg, Dusseldorf, Nuremberg, Vienna).Ryanair operates flights from April to October to/from Hahn (Frankfurt), Bergamo (Milan), Rome and Charleroi (Brussels) airport.

By Train

Trains (OSE) connect Trikala to other cities in Greece.Travelling with ordinary trains can be cheaper, although a little bit slower whereas choosing a fancy faster Intercity train will cost the same amount of money or even more than a KTEL bus.There are direct trains to Athens and Larissa to Thessaloniki.

By Bus

Interurban coaches "KTEL" buses are by far the most convenient way to travel around Greece, as well as for intra-regional travelling.There is frequent bus service from Athens Liossion Station to Trikala as well as from Thessaloniki bus terminal "Macedonia" to Trikala.The bus station is at the corner of Othonos and Garivaldi just across the river from the center part of town.

Koursoum Mosque

is an Islamic mosque built in the 16th century designed by Mimar Sinan, who now serves as an area of mild manifestations.Named after the Turkish word Koursoum, which means lead and the dome is molyvoskepastos.Near the mosque survived the mausoleum of the son of Sultan Suleiman Osman Shah who according to tradition built the mosque because Trikala cured of illness plagued him.The mosque is now a monument protected by UNESCO and serves as an area of mild manifestations.

City Folklore Museum

Municipal Folklore Museum was founded in 1991 and operates in Garibaldi Street 6.Exposed to everyday objects, folk art, costumes, tools, traditional professions appo late 18th century to mid 20th century.The collection also includes photographs and documents of the same period while the museum, in collaboration with the Association of Friends of the Folk Museum, organizes events and revivals of traditional customs.

City Sports History Museum

Founded in 1998 by the collector material Peligkou Claus, his record Spiro Bonoti and donations athletes and anonymous.Housed in a two-storey neoclassical building and presentation of exhibits divided into three rooms, showing the sporting history of Trikala from 1896 until today.It also acts Room Trophies local sports and reading in the library and multimedia.

Diocese Museum

Diocese Museum is housed in the Metropolitan Hall of the city and consists of rooms: Ecclesiastical Museum, religious articles, icons and vestments, Folk Museum, folklore and everyday items from previous years and the Library which serves as a reading room open to the public and includes 19,000 titles.

Asklepion of ancient Trikke

the oldest and most important of Greece in Strabo.Speculated that it is below the district Varousi.At this time the area was excavated Roman baths and mosaics and public buildings of the Hellenistic period with mosaic, depicting King Hedoni of Thrace, Lycurgus.

Trikke Fortress

The Fortress City, built by Justinian over the ancient citadel of the Trikke at the 6th AD century, with a triple wall.Reconstructed later by the Ottomans who in the 17th century and placed a huge clock on the tower accompanied by a bell weighing 650 pounds.In 1936 placed another watch from the mayor Theodosopoulos and remains until now the hallmark of the city.In the third tier of the fort from the bottom of a well starts tunnel that crossed the hill of Prophet Elias and lead the way to Kalambaka. Today the fortress houses the outdoor theater of the municipality while visitors watch with views across the city.
